- SHIPWRECKED -

A "true" story that Billy Graham spoke about. It is about trusting God even when we can't see what's ahead for us.

There was a man who became shipwrecked on a deserted island years ago. He managed to build himself a hut to live in and with it stored the possessions he was able to salvage from his boat after it was wrecked.

He would watch every day for some sign of a ship or airplane passing by. He prayed to God for help. Some days he would get discouraged and wonder if he would ever get off that island, but still ... he prayed.

One day he was on the other end of the island and noticed some smoke coming from the direction of his hut. He ran as fast as he could back to the hut and then he realized that his fears had come true. His hut and all his belongings were destroyed by a fire. All that was left was the smoke and rubble of it all.

He asked God why did this have to happen. He did not understand. Soon he would find out. Later that day a ship appeared on the horizon and soon landed on the island and rescued him. They told him that they were plotting a distinct course and noticed smoke off in the distance and thought the smoke was a signal for help.

It was a sign for much needed help and it was a sign from God that He was still in control and He would not forsake His beloved child even if there was a doubt or not.

Out of the ashes of this life we can build another day! We can have beauty for ashes.

What a wonderful story! Sometimes, God acts in ways we do not understand! Like the man, he prayed constantly for help, he did not know what God's plan was. One fine day he saw heaps of smoke rising up into the sky, and ran towards the smoke, and to his horror he found the essential possesions for survival were on fire. The man became angry! Who would not am I right? If it was me, I honestly would be angry with God.

Lost on an unknown island. Not knowing what is in the island. The danger laid before the stranded man. Danger of wild animals?? Danger of natural disaster? Danger of sea pirates for instance..haha

But God's plan never fails and it is always the bestest plan! In the end, though all his possession he had was burned, but God used it to as a signal for help! Isn't our God an awesome God?? At last the man was rescued! =)

This story can be applied in our Christian walk with Christ. Sometimes bad things happen, it is not God does not care, or does not love us, neither does he has forgotten us, but it is for our own God. Sufferings may creep in once in a while. Some sufferings are mild, but some are painful, but do not worry, because every suffering that takes place in our lives are to:

1) strengthen our faith

2) make and mold us to be more and more like Christ

3) draw us into closer relationship with Christ

4) prepare us to be co-rulership with God

And not only that but we also glory in suffering, knowing that suffering produces perseverance, and perserverance character, and character, hope!

( Romans 5:3-4)

GOOD NIGHT!! =)
